THE TWO WORKHORSES
Sand for concrete, mortar, bedding and raising grade. Washed river gravel for drainage, bedding and backfill — rounded, sorted, and sold in coarse-to-fine grades so you can match the grade to the job.
DeRidder & Abbeville, LA · Delivered Across SWLA.
Concrete and mason sand, pea gravel, #57 stone, crushed limestone, road base, drainage rock and rip rap — sold by the ton and delivered by the load to job sites, pads and oilfield locations across Southwest Louisiana and Acadiana.
BHI supplies and hauls construction aggregate — sand, gravel, crushed stone and rock — to job sites across Southwest Louisiana. Material ranges from dust screenings all the way up to stone 10 inches or more in diameter, and it is sold by the ton.
If you are building a pad, cutting in a lease road, bedding a utility line, armoring a ditch or getting a laydown yard out of the mud, there is a material on this page for it. We run out of DeRidder and Abbeville, which puts trucks within reach of Beauregard, Vernon, Calcasieu, Allen and Vermilion Parishes — construction, oil & gas, and road grading work alike.
Tell us what you are building and how big the area is. We will tell you which material fits and how many tons it takes. Call (337) 409-5961 for a quote.
Three of the piles we move most. Which one ends up on your job comes down to what it has to do — carry traffic, drain water, bed a pipe or fill a hole.
Sand for concrete, mortar, bedding and raising grade. Washed river gravel for drainage, bedding and backfill — rounded, sorted, and sold in coarse-to-fine grades so you can match the grade to the job.
Angular crushed rock. The broken faces lock into each other under a roller, which is why it goes under drives, pads and laydown yards instead of round gravel.
Everything below is sold by the ton and delivered by the load. Sizes run from dust screenings up to stone 10 inches and larger. Not sure which one you want? Skip to picking a material.
| Concrete Sand | Coarse, washed sand for ready-mix concrete, mortar beds and paver setting beds. |
|---|---|
| Mason Sand | Finer and cleaner than concrete sand — masonry mortar, brick and block work, sand-set joints. |
| Plaster Sand | Fine, uniform sand for stucco, plaster and render coats where texture shows. |
| Fill Sand / Select Fill | Bulk sand for raising grade, filling low spots and building a pad up before base goes down. |
| Pea Gravel | Small, rounded, washed stone — pipe bedding, backfill, walkways and drainage. |
|---|---|
| Gravel — Grades 2, 3 & 4 | Graded river gravel, coarse through fine. Pick the grade that matches the job. |
| ASTM #57 Stone | Angular stone held to an ASTM gradation — drives, pipe bedding, under-slab drainage, concrete aggregate. |
| Crushed Stone / Limestone | Angular crushed rock that locks up tight under compaction — drives, pads and base. |
| Road Base | Blended, graded material that compacts into a firm driving surface under asphalt, concrete or gravel. |
|---|---|
| Drainage Rock | Clean, open-graded rock for French drains, trench drains, culvert outfalls and under-slab drainage. |
| Rip Rap | Large, heavy stone placed to armor ditches, banks, outfalls and shorelines against washout. |
| Pit Run / Pit Rock | Unscreened material straight from the pit — economical bulk fill and rough stabilization. |
Select fill and pit run to get grade up, crushed stone on top to give equipment and trucks something solid to sit on.
Graded base under asphalt, concrete or a gravel drive — the layer that binds, compacts and carries the load.
Sand, pit run and select fill for filling behind walls, around structures and back over what you just dug up.
Pea gravel, #57 stone and sand under and around pipe and conduit — even support without point loads on the line.
Clean, open-graded rock for French drains, trench drains, culvert outfalls and under-slab work. No fines to plug it up.
Rip rap sized to the flow, placed on ditch bottoms, bank slopes, outfalls and shorelines to stop the washout.
Crushed stone over a fill base keeps material, pipe racks and forklifts out of the mud through a Louisiana wet season.
Location pads, lease roads and turnarounds built up with fill and topped with rock that will hold a loaded rig truck.

Get us the length, width and depth of the area — or the square footage and how deep you want it — along with what you're building. Aggregate is sold by the ton, so the tonnage depends on the material as well as the volume. Call (337) 409-5961 with your dimensions and we'll work it out with you before anything gets loaded.
Yes. We deliver aggregate by the load with dump trucks across Southwest Louisiana and Acadiana, running out of our DeRidder and Abbeville yards — DeRidder, Leesville, Lake Charles, Sulphur, Jennings, Oakdale, Abbeville and the surrounding parishes. Farther out is usually workable too; call and we'll price the haul.
It depends on the material and how far it has to travel. Small jobs and big pad jobs get handled differently. Call (337) 409-5961 and tell us the material, the tonnage and the site — we'll tell you what the load looks like.
We can drop a straight pile where you want it or lay a load out in a windrow down a drive as the truck moves. Anything past that — grading, shaping and compacting a pad or base — needs a machine on site. Tell us what you need before the truck rolls and we'll tell you what we can do on your ground.
#57 stone is angular crushed rock. The broken faces lock into each other, so it holds its shape and compacts into a stable, free-draining layer — which is why it goes under drives, slabs and pipe. Pea gravel is small, rounded, washed river stone. It drains just as well, but it stays loose and rolls underfoot, so it's better for bedding, backfill around pipe and decorative work than for anything that has to carry a load.
By the ton, plus the haul. What you pay depends on the material, how many tons you take and how far it has to go from the nearest yard. We don't post a price list because the haul moves the number — call (337) 409-5961 with the material, the tonnage and the delivery address and we'll quote it.
Tell us the material, the area you're covering and where it's going — we'll quote the tons and the haul.
